What is Katherine from The Vampire Diaries doing on the UK cover of Angel?

I have been asking myself this ever since I first saw this book cover:

Now look at these pictures of Katherine/Elena from The Vampire Diaries. Or even better, imagine Katherine stepping out of the tomb she is trapped in.

Do you see any similarities, or is it just in my head?
