Review: Frostbite

Title: Frostbite
Series: Vampire Academy
Author: Richelle Mead
Released: 2008

About the Book:
Rose loves Dimitri, Dimitri might love Tasha, and Mason would die to be with Rose...

It's winter break at St. Vladimir's, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has put the school on high alert, and now the Academy's crawling with Guardians - including Rose's hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway. And if hand to- hand combat with her mom wasn't bad enough, Rose's tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason's got a huge crush on her, and Rose keeps getting stuck in Lissa's head while she's making out with her boyfriend, Christian (So not cool)! The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy's not taking any risks....This year, St. Vlad's annual holiday ski trip is mandatory.

But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only create the illusion of safety. When three friends run away in an offensive move against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. But heroism rarely comes without a price...

Read an excerpt from the book HERE.

My Thoughts: If you liked the first book, Vampire Academy, you will LOVE this one! This book has more of everything - more danger, more emotions, more romance, more friendship, more suspense and more adventure. This book is absolutely amazing!

As always, Richelle Mead's characters are great and well-developed, I relly feel for all of them. In this book we got introduced to a new character; Lissa's cousin Adrian.
Adrian is interested both in Rose, and in Lissa's abilities, but is he good or bad?

Adrian is cocky, sarcastic and selfish, but yet I liked him!

Then we have Mason. Oh sweet, poor little Mason. Why did you do that? Mason is a really sweet guy and a great friend, and he's really into Rose. To prove himself for Rose he does something really stupid and foolhardy that puts both himself and other people in grave danger...

Review: Vampire Academy

Title: Vampire Academy
Series: Vampire Academy (Book 1)
Author: Richelle Mead
Released: 2007

About the Book: Rose and Lissa may act like two normal teenagers - but they're not. Rose is a Dhampir - a mix between a human and a Vampire, and she is a guardian for her friend Lissa, who is a royal Moroi (the good kind of Vampire). They have been on the run from St. Vladimir's Academy, their Dhampir and Moroi training school, for over two years. A lot of people have tried to catch them, but not succeeded - that is until Dimitri, one of the best guardians in the world, shows up. Rose and Lissa are being dragged back to the boarding school - and the danger they tried to escape from.

Back at the school Rose and Lissa have to make up for the years they lost while they were on the run. Rose has lost a lot of valuable guardian training - so she gets a personal trainer to help her improve her skills. And it's not any teacher - it's Dimitri, the hot seven years older famous Russian guardian, who took them back to St. Vladimir's. A dangerous attraction are formed between Rose and Dimitri - and they both do their best to ignore it. But Rose has more things to worry about than her forbidden romance; the school's ruthless social scene, the unspeakable nighttime rituals, and most of all, saving Lissa from the danger that hovers over her.

My Thoughts: The Vampire Academy books are absolutely amazing! If you haven't read them yet - do it right now! You won't regret it.

This book has everything - drama, suspense, mystery, friendship, humor and romance -
forbidden romance.

Rose is a kick-ass heroin. She's smart, strong, funny and caring. She's cocky, outspoken and very, very brave. I wanna
be Rose, or at least have her as a friend!
Dimitri is another great character - he's a badass guardian, protective, mysterious and very sexy. All characters were great and very well-developed.

So again, this is an amazing book - READ IT!!

Vampire of the Week

It's time for another VoW post! And this week's Vampire of the Week is . . .

DIMITRI BELIKOV

That's right folks, it's Dimitri from the Vampire Academy! Don't you just love him?

Dimitri is one of the main characters in the Vampire Academy series, written by Richelle Mead. The Vampire Academy series consists of four books so far; Vampire Academy, Frostbite, Shadow Kiss and Blood Promise. The fifth book, Spirit Bound, will be released in May next year.

Why does Dimitri deserve to be Vampire (Dhampir) of the Week?

Well, here's how Rose describes him, the first time they meet:

"It was him, the guy I’d seen across the street watching me. He was older than us, maybe mid-twenties, and as tall as I’d figured, probably 6’6” or 6’7”. And under different circumstances—say, when he wasn’t holding up our desperate escape—I would have thought he was hot. Shoulder-length brown hair, tied back into a short pony-tail. Dark brown eyes. A long, brown coat like horse riders wore, not quite a trench coat. A duster, I thought it was called. (...) Sensing my resignation, the man stepped forward, turning his attention to Lissa. His face was calm. He swept her a bow and managed to look graceful doing it, which surprised me considering his height. “My name is Dimitri Belikov,” he said. I could hear a faint Russian accent. “I’ve come to take you back to St. Vladimir’s Academy, Princess.”"

Conclusion: Dimitri is H O T ! He is also a badass guardian; one of the best in the world. He's loyal, fair, honest, strong, and a true gentleman.

IF you haven't read these books yet, you HAVE to! They are great! You can read more about the books, and read excerpts by clicking here.

Since the Vampire Academy series haven't been made into a movie, we don't know what Dimitri really look like (the picture above is from a book cover).
But if Vampire Academy were made into a movie, who would you like to play Dimitri?

I googled and found some different suggestions.
Here are the most popular choices:

Ben Barnes

Taylor Kitsch

and Garrett Hedlund

Who would you like to see as Dimitri, any of the following guys or someone else? Comment!

Review: Night World No. 2

Title: Night World No. 2 (Dark Angel, The Chosen, Soulmate)
Series: Night World
Author: L. J. Smith
Published: As stand-alone books 1996-1997.
Together as Night World No.2 - 2008

About the books:

In Dark Angel, Gillian is saved from drowning by her guardian angel. Only visible to Gillian, Angel will fulfill her heart's every desire. But when Angel starts making strange and sinister requests, Gillian must question who he truly is and what his intentions are.

Armed with a wooden stake, martial arts, and the will to resist a vampire's mind control, Rashel struggles to avenge her mother's death in The Chosen. Then she meets Quinn, her soulmate, who is part of the world she has vowed to destroy.

Hannah receives notes warning her of incredible danger in Soulmate. But if death is her destiny, is the Lord of the Night World's love strong enough to save her?

My thoughts:
This book was great, much better than Night World No.1! All three stories were mysterious, romantic and action-packed. This book is about 700 pages - but they flew by! I couldn't stop reading.

My favourite story of these three was The Chosen.
Since Rachel's friend and mother were killed by a vampire, Rashel has sworn to kill every vampire she discovers, and has devoted her life to tracking down her mother's killer. She has become the most feared vampire hunter among the Night Worlders. But when Rashel meets Quinn - a bad-ass vampire with a reputation to to match her own, she finds herself unable to kill him. The meeting leaves the both of them confused -and very much alive- and they discover a bond between them, that could be their undoing.

Rachel and Quinn's characters were great - they were both very stubborn and kick-ass, but at the same time very caring and tender.

L. J. Smith is a great author - even though all the Night World books have the same theme - human meets non-human and they fall in love - she manages to deliver unique and inventive storys with well-developed and colorful characters, every single time.
