Review: Night World No. 1

Title: Night World No. 1 (Secret Vampire, Daughters of Darkness, Spellbinder)
Series: Night World
Author: L. J. Smith
Published: Each of the books were published in 1996, but they were published together, as Night World No 1, in 2008

Vampires, werewolves, witches, shapeshifters -- they live among us without our knowledge. Night World is their secret society, a society with very strict rules to prevent discovery; 1) Never allow humans to gain knowledge of the Night World's existence, and 2) Never fall in one with one of them.

About the books: In Secret Vampire, Poppy thought the summer would last forever. Then she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Now Poppy's only hope for survival is James, her friend and secret love. As a vampire in the Night World, James can make Poppy immortal. But first they both must risk everything to go against the laws of Night World.

Fugitives from Night World, three vampire sisters leave their isolated home to live among humans in Daughters of Darkness. Their brother, Ash, is sent to bring the girls back, but falls in love with their beautiful friend.

Two witch cousins fight over their high school crush. It's a battle between black magic and white magic in Spellbinder.

My Thoughts: L. J. Smith has created a whole new world with her Night World series. Even though Smith has written about vampires before (the Vampire Diaries), this world is different from that and has other laws and creatures.

I really like that there are three storys in one book, as soon as you finish one story you can start reading the next story, without any waiting!

Each of the three storys are stand-alone books, but there are some things that tie them
together - which is really cool! A subsidiary character in one book can suddenly become one of the main characters in the next book, and so on. And all books have one thing in common - forbidden love between a human and a creature from the Night World.

Definitely read the Night World books if you get the chance too - you won't regret it!

Rating: 4 of 5

My sister loves LJ Smith's books. I'll get around to them eventually!
