Book Review: Firelight

Title: Firelight
Series: Firelight #1
Author: Sophie Jordan
Published: 2010

A hidden truth. Mortal enemies. Doomed love.

Marked as special at an early age, Jacinda knows her every move is watched. But she longs for freedom to make her own choices. When she breaks the most sacred tenet among her kind, she nearly pays with her life. Until a beautiful stranger saves her. A stranger who was sent to hunt those like her. For Jacinda is a draki—a descendant of dragons whose greatest defense is her secret ability to shift into human form.

Forced to flee into the mortal world with her family, Jacinda struggles to adapt to her new surroundings. The only bright light is Will. Gorgeous, elusive Will who stirs her inner draki to life. Although she is irresistibly drawn to him, Jacinda knows Will's dark secret: He and his family are hunters. She should avoid him at all costs. But her inner draki is slowly slipping away—if it dies she will be left as a human forever. She'll do anything to prevent that. Even if it means getting closer to her most dangerous enemy. Mythical powers and breathtaking romance ignite in this story of a girl who defies all expectations and whose love crosses an ancient divide.

My Thoughts: The romance between Jacinda and Will felt very similar to the romance between Bella and Edward in Twilight. Like the way Jacinda felt Will's presence as soon as he entered the room, and the feeling she had that she wouldn't survive without him.
Since Jacinda is a draki, and Will is a hunter, their relationship is forbidden in every way, and things are doomed to get complicated and dangerous. Therefor, Jacinda does everything to keep her draki a secret, and protect her family. But when her draki is threatening to show each time she is spending time with Will, a disaster is born to happen sooner or later...
This is the first time I have read a book about dragons, or draki in this case. It was definitely interesting and the draki were vividly and beautifully described.
The ending was dramatic and left me wanting to read the sequel (Vanish, Sept. 2011) as soon as possible!

Cover Thoughts: I love when you can picture the heroine in the book as the person on the cover, and this is one of those cases. With red hair, and mysterious cat eyes, the girl on this cover could definitely be Jacinda!

Sounds great! Love the relationship between Edward and Bella (It's not healthy, but what can we do about that!) Looking forward reading this book. I haven;t read a lot of books about dragons either!

Great review! I loved this one too, guess I should write a review too.

I think this relationship is better :) Will so far feels like a healthier kind of boyfriend than Edward.
