True Blood

TRUEBLOOD

About the Show:

Thanks to a Japanese scientist's invention of synthetic blood, vampires have progressed from legendary monsters to fellow citizens overnight. And while humans have been safely removed from the menu, many remain apprehensive about these creatures "coming out of the coffin." Religious leaders and government officials around the world have chosen their sides, but in the small Louisiana town of Bon Temps, the jury is still out.

Local waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), however, knows how it feels to be an outcast. "Cursed" with the ability to listen in on people's thoughts, she's also open-minded about the integration of vampires — particularly when it comes to Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), a handsome 173-year-old living up the road. But as Sookie is drawn into a series of mysteries surrounding Bill's arrival in Bon Temps, that tolerance will be put to the test.

A sexy, scary new drama from 'Six Feet Under' creator Alan Ball, 'True Blood' delves into the meticulously-crafted world of novelist Charlaine Harris. Described by the Emmy®-winning Ball as "popcorn for smart people" the first season of ‘True Blood' caused an overnight sensation — and the new installments only build on his colorful cast of supernatural misfits.

The first episode of True Blood debuted at a very modest 1.44 million viewers, but since then True Blood has become more and more popular. The second season exploded, doubled its ratings and became the second highest-rated show ever on HBO.

The third season will air in June 2010! That may seem like a long time to wait for all True Blood fans out there; but if you haven't watched this show yet, it will give you plenty of time to do so before the third season begins!

I really like this show, it has drama, mystery, vampires and romance; what else could you ask for? True Blood is more appropriate for an adult audience though, it's rated MA.

True Blood is losely based by the Southern Vampire Series (a.k.a. the Sookie Stackhouse Series) written by Charlaine Harris. Has anyone read any of those books? If so, what did you think? Should I read them or is the TV Series better?

Don't forget: Season 3 - June 2010!

READ THE BOOKS!!!! the books and the show are very different but it gives you a different look on what could have happened. either way they are both great in their own ways.

Hey! I just finished reading these books and they are great! I actually started pretty slow with them but after the third book I was totally hooked. I can't wait til the next one comes out (in May I think!). Read them and watch the show as someone already said. I feel like the show is a better adaptation of the books than a lot of movies are because it gets into a lot of detail, and in some cases even more. Anyway, good luck!
